Why do we tell you to drink water?

 
For your benefit and ours, drink more water!! Your massage therapist will tell you to drink plenty of water after a treatment. During a massage, salt, minerals, and toxins are released from your muscles. Drinking water will help to rid your body of these wastes. You should always drink plenty of water though - the benefits are numerous. Water is a critical nutrient that detoxifies the body. Not to mention your muscles consist of 75% water. So water is essential to build muscles, minimize muscle cramping and spasms, and relieve joint pain. Drinking water before a treatment will help your therapist get into those tight areas and there will be less discomfort breaking up those pesky knots! If you do have a tendency to get sore after massages, especially deep tissue treatments, drinking water will help with that as well.
